Holding Pattern

A slight change to the release date for Ride a Cock Horse. It has been moved back to May 25. I'm okay with that especially since it gives me a little time to focus on some other manuscripts. It is interesting how I can know what I want to write until I sit down to write it. In a bit of a writing funk this weekend.

This week I attended a development offsite for my "day job" (in quotes because sometimes that day job involves working at night). We were given the opportunity to create a collage that best represented an area of focus that we would like to develop.

I really like the way mine turned out despite the fact that it looks sparse.  The first 45 minutes of my time was spent staring off at the Presidio cemetery and 20 minutes looking out at the Golden Gate Bridge.

I found several images in the assortment of magazines at our disposal. The common theme to mine revolved around creative freedom and realizing my potential. Synchronicity. Letting go. Following my dreams. Of course there is also the requisite eating healthy image but that goes without saying.

All in all it was a lovely day.

The Valentine Post

If you can't be with the one you love on Valentine's Day, I would most definitely settle for the man on the left. Michael David Barre. He has been making quite the splash on Facebook as of late. With those muscles, that look, the scruff - he makes my heart erratically hammer in my chest. And a few other things I won't mention here.

I have said it before and I will say it again. He is a dead ringer for Tate, my main character in one of my works in progress. Athletic and drop dead gorgeous. Except for the eyes (details, details). Why someone hasn't snapped this guy for a cover is beyond my comprehension.

Forget flowers. Forget chocolates. Just give me this guy and a big, comfy bed. Please.

Cover Art

This could not have been delivered to my Inbox at a better time. Having experienced the week from Hell, I needed something to put a smile on my face and this did it in spades. Behold the cover of my upcoming release, Ride a Cock Horse. Artwork is by the talented Victoria Miller at Breathless Press. I don't know who the female model is but she fits my female character perfectly. Male cover model is the swoon-worthy Jimmy Thomas. Counting myself as extremely fortunate to have him on my very first cover. Next to chocolate, Jimmy is my very own guilty pleasure.

I am nearly finished with my second round of edits and admit that I am excited and also a bit nervous. The release is two months away and I will have my hands full with a day job, family, and promotion. Can this wallflower survive the rigors and get out on the dance floor? Looking forward to a full dance card with breathless anticipation.

Book Review - Sinful Urges

From the blurb:
Follow the confessions of Juan and Maria as they fall prey to lust at first sight. Can they stop themselves before it's too late, or will they become victims of their own sinful urges?

A new neighbor sends Juan running to confession to rid himself of the lustful thoughts he experiences. Each confession becomes more erotic, more sinful than the last. Can Juan stop himself, or will he give in to the desire that threatens his very faith?

The man across the street causes Maria to question her own morals. When she seeks out a priest for confession, she weaves a tale of exotic kisses and stolen moments. How can Maria find sanctuary in her prayers when her body demands she finds solace in her neighbor's arms?

Sonia Hightower takes you on the erotic journey of Juan and Maria as they fight temptation and lust. As told through the eyes of a priest who hears their steamy confession, we learn of Juan and Maria's sinful thoughts. Juan and Maria are married but not to each other. As each one confesses, the story unfolds until you reach the shocking twist at the end. They both try to fight their urges as is evident by their confessions and I have to say I felt for the priest as he tried to steer them on the right path.

Sinful Urges is not what you would expect, not by a long shot. This story unfolds in an unconventional and, in my opinion, brilliant manner. The moment I started to read it, I could not put it down. The tension built much like a seduction, from the first caress to the mind-blowing climax. There was even well placed humor woven into the fabric of this book. The sexual tension crackled as they struggled not to succumb to temptation. The ending was so unexpected that I had to read it twice.

This book stayed with me and I wanted to know more about the characters, their back-story, and their motives. I found myself completely invested in them. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more by Ms. Hightower.
